Ah, that makes it quite unlikely then. I just remember Lucky tweeting something along the lines of "Shipping update: We have no idea what we are doing."

That tweet was doctored I believe.

Maybe Lucky is hand delivering each one until someone finally stops treating him like a psycho when they open their door?

My uncle lives down the road, and he's got the Vive and the Occulus on preorder, the computers to run them and the space all laid out. I predict a consolidation of cousins in the coming weeks.

Okay, so something big has happened.

The shipping cost has apparently been slashed across the board. Mine isn't even showing a shipping cost anymore. The hold up was apparently whoever was taking care of the shipping, apparently whatever company they contracted fucked up hardcore, at least that's the rumor as of this moment.

Considering my shipping cost was $130 USD... yeah.

Been playing with my uncles Vive all week and wow that thing is so cool. I think I like Tilt-Brush the best at the moment (Kind of 3d paint) but basically anything you do is mind-blowing right now, was sitting at the bottom of the sea yesterday morning, watching the jellyfish.

I like being able to move around it feels way more immersive than the oculus, (or at least the (2nd gen dev kit) though they haven't quite worked out the best way to let you move beyond the space your are inhabiting. The crazy thing is that all this bulky tech is going to look like 80s brick-phones in 5-10 years time.

Do you think it is something you would get tired and pull out if you had a guest over or every few weeks just to prevent buyers remorse ?

I am so very tempted to purchase the vive- but I have wasted a lot of money over the last few years on games and gadgets I barely use and I am trying to avoid repeat offenses.

The experience itself is incredibly immersive and intuitive. It's addictive as well, I'm going back on the weekend. It kind of remains to be seen how they will utalise the tech in games though. Most of the stuff out now is demos and interactive experiences. The demos they have got make me pretty sure these things are going to be the new stranded in gaming in 5 years or so. Along with a lot of fitter nerds, the vive atleast is pretty physical, a couple of hours of gaming could actually become a workout.

But the first gen kits are still not wireless and reasonably bulky, I've not had a problem with either using it but I imagine they are going to shrink and improve rapidly. You also need a fair bit of open space and a good gaming pc. I don't think I'd buy this one myself (if I had the money) but I would definitely buy gen 2 or 3, once they've worked the kinks out and created some content.

It kind of depends how much you want to experience VR right now, (though if you try one out, you will want one.)

I get the idea that this shit just opened a can of Porno!Games that would make people addicted to this device and the game.

Ah porn, how you evolved from being able to read it, then see it, and now, live it.

It's absolutely amazing. I have zero complaints. All of the games/demos I tried worked without any issue, perfect sense of depth.

Combining real life movement via roomscale with teleportation feels natural after a few minutes.

Fantastic contraptions makes me feel like tony stark designing things on the fly, as shown in the iron man movies.

Showed it to the missus and some friends, they were all madly impressed. I think if you have the space for roomescale, buy it.

I've just been in Seattle and had the chance to stay at the house of one of the developers of the Rift. They are incredibly immersive and a hell of a lot of fun. I don't know what has been released publicly but he showed me a few demos/games and a interactive game with alien races (a sort of scientific explorer type thing). Although he didn't have it with him he was quite excited about their developing handheld devices quite different from what Steam are producing.

    So!

It's a year since I got my Rift.

In the first few months I was super into it, though my main use was VR Porn. :awesome

I just made a second impulse purchase of the Touch controllers last week and I have to say that I am super satisfied with it.

Robo Recall is a hell of a lot of fun.

Tilt Brush VR is my shit.

Oculus Medium is something I want to get good at.

My major gripe right now is my playing space is limited. I'm almost at the point of setting the contents of the garage on fire to justify clearing out the space so I can use it.

There is something immensely satisfying about using the touch controllers, especially when they've been intuitively included in a product.

The sheer joy Robo Recall gives me is... indescribable.

With Steam Summer Sale still on, I'm looking for some new experiences for my Vive. So what are some gems we should all be going for?

So far my favorite has been Space Pirate Trainer. Very fun and a big hit when showing my Vive off. Runner ups for top spot are Arizona Sunshine, Vanishing Realms, The Blu, Tilt Brush, and the Longbow minigame by Valve. Raw Data can be fun, but I was a bit underwhelmed after some rave reviews I heard. Especially so for its gun combat.

Current things I have my eye on are Pavlov, Dead Effect 2, Batman, Rick and Morty, Eleven Ping Pong, and Time Machine VR.
