    Congratulations Amerision.

I'm shocked that Song of the Trees didn't get in the top 3.

Not enough hack and slash I suppose.

Gore seems to win awards :/

Song of the Trees is easily one of the best fanfics out there. How is it not in here? Oh well, Amerisions' story is pretty good as well. Congrats everyone.

Agreed. I think next time folks need to step back and ask themselves what 'Noir' actually means. Because, to be quite honest, Song of the Trees is at the top of the game in this category for me.

    Congrats, Amerision :p

Agreed. Song of the Trees is perfect Noir. I don't think people even considered their decisions. >_<

Agreed. Honestly, I don't see how TFTCD can be called Noir. At times it's bleak, possibly slightly darkish, but it never gets Noir.

And members need to stop equating Slash to Shit. Malignant Objects should have placed higher than the measley 37 points that it got. It's easily the one fic that fits the label 'noir' better than anything else.

And 'Teeth'? That oneshot was absolutely terrible. Oh jeebus, teacher scared because the teeth will getz03r5 her!11! Bugger that.

Incubus doesn't deserve it either, it's dark, for sure, but not exactly noir. As far as I'm concerned, first and second should have gone to either Tinn Tam or Charlie-Dashdot-Blue, and Amerision's other fic should have gotten Third.

Congrats, Amerision, you were the only one who deserved to show up on this list.

I suggest a recall on the votes and revoting because "Song of the Trees" should have owned this catagory

What surprises me the most is that Taliah's story wasn't even mentioned.

I'll have to admit I haven't read Equal & Opposite - incest (sort of) squeaks me out a bit. TFTCD is only marginally noir. Yarrgh's story is more dark then noir. *shrugs* I guess this category WAS a bit vague.

There shouldn't have to be a fucking definition for each category though.

People just see an authors name and say "Zomg maybe he will include me in his story if I vote for him" or someshit like that.

    Straight up fangirlism.

If it's yourself, who will have exactly the same DNA (except the male/female DNA bits- if they exist) would it count as incest though?

Still, I've read Equal and Opposites and the only one that deserves to be up there. I still can't think of what I voted for though.

I honestly don't think that most people even know what Noir even means. I honestly think that most people couldn't be arsed to look it up either.

Yeah - the category was vague:

Tinn's story is Noir in the original French meaning but this category and the nominations were a mixture of those it replaced. So it was difficult to compare the nominees. People probably didn't vote, which story is a 'classic Noir' story but which of the nominated fics they liked most.

Eh, I hadn't read song of the trees, so I voted for the ones that seemed the most noir to me. That was basically Amerision's. Beyond that, I just picked the ones I liked best.

That seems to have been the problem with this category.

I actually agree that TFTCD isn't really noir. There are underlying themes of insanity and murder. It is certainly a dark and bleak story at times, but noir to me has always been very dark along the lines of HP Lovecraft (not Potter).

I think that both the other stories in this category that won were better noir style stories than mine.

    Congrats to you both.

To me, noir = Sin City.

    Malignant Objects is Sin City.

None of those above are (though I did vote for Amerision in second I think).

    Grats, Amer. You deserved it.

2nd place? Fuck that. replace it with Tinn. TFTCD is only marginally dreary at best. Yarrgh's is pretty good, but I think it was more a S&P story than Noir.

I'm not too sure on what stories are actually noir. My vote went to Tale of an Incubus, that being my favorite and what I think is noir since it has Evil!Harry.

I just picked the others on what I thought best fit the description given.
