    I have to agree, very interesting.

    Well written, and written with a clear plot idea in mind that was executed cleanly and concisely.

    You're right in that it's hard to explain without giving it all away, though.

    I enjoyed this. A very interesting oneshot.

    I don't really want to put a spoiler tag as the spoiler is essentially the whole story, but I thought perhaps it was leading up to providing an answer that it did not. A mystery it didn't solve, to my mind, on first reading. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's unsastisfying for me, personally.

    I am rating it 5/5.

    I somehow have never heard of Culture before reading this, and knowing my laziness I probably won't look into it further, but I enjoyed this story.

    Can't really comment on the details without giving away the premise though.
