For now I'm just sticking this thread here because I can't decide where it's most appropriate.

What I'm proposing is a succession game of Crusader Kings 2. You play as normal but when your ruler dies, you document your playthrough and pass on the save file to the next player in the list who carries on.

If there's enough interest we can decide on further rules and what DLCs or mods if any to play.

    Any takers?

Sounds pretty sweet and I would totally take part, I see however the problem with time. Some rules life damn long which means it could take forever to progress.

And I would laugh hard when someone becomes immortal. Atleast I heard that is a thing, dont have the latetest few dlcs.

Immortality is indeed a thing but I say just don't use the Reaper's due DLC to remove it as a problem.

Regarding lives taking a long time we're under no time limit so as long as it doesn't take a few weeks then all's good.

Well, at most it's a few hours and at least it's a few minutes? CK2 runs fairly fast now and the longest you can play for is about 80 years on the top end?

Yep, the beauty of this system is nobody has to sink too much time into it. You play your turn over the course of a session or two and that's with an exceptionally long lived character.

I'd love to, except for my lacking more than a few DLC

It'll probably be best to just run a vanilla game or the minimum DLC that everyone has in common. I will say though it'd be nice if we ran Old Gods just for the earlier start date.

I would be in as well once I get my computer set up from the move (shouldn't be more than a week or so, just gotta buy a new modem... somehow we lost a box in the moving process).

We could start now and it would roll around to Lindsey turn.

I have sword of Islam and Horse Lords only.

Just play a vanilla 1066 start, if we finish it just means we play another.

I'm in. Last time it died before it was my turn, so hopefully this one does well. I have every DLC except Reaper's Due/Monks and Mystics.

So i've got Legacy of Rome, The Republic, Sword of Islam, The Old Gods, Sons of Abraham and Charlemagne.

Now however, we come to the most important part, deciding where we will establish our demense.

I started the thread off in Quests and Xiph moved it to gaming for me.

Okay so the list of members:

    Me
    Distaly
    Swirly Mango
    Locke
    Azotez
    Sauce Bauss
    Xiph0
    Lindsey
    Bantam
    Palindrome
    Nemrut

More people can join as we go along but if we go through the list we'll just repeat the cycle.

Big decision time. Where do we start? I'm going to assume a totally vanilla 1066 start because fuck it, when was the last time anyone played Vanilla?

Earl Ruaidri of Tir Chonaill of the Ua Canannáinn dynasty.

Irish count that starts off relatively isolated. The only things that resemble a threat are the greedy eyes of the Scots and your rival in Tyrone. Will you attempt to unite all the lands of the island into one mighty nation under God?

    Easy mode.

Count Skofte of Akershus of the Gisking dynasty.

The old ways are dying and you've embraced the new Christian God under the rule of your catholic king Harald Hårdråde. Located in central Scandinavia, you are in an ideal position to form a dynasty that will span the ages. If you can avoid being crushed between the warrring Kings to your South, East and West. Oh and there's those Odinloving pagans to the east.

    Trickier start but playable.

Count Rainaut of Venaissin of the d'Orange dynasty.

Let's make one thing clear. Provence should be rightfully yours. That imbecile of a Duke Bertrand should never be allowed to rule. Your father told tales of the old days when Burgundy was free of tyrannical French Kings or Holy Kaisers. If your family will ever rise to power you must bide your time.

Count Máté of Feher of the Ákos dynasty.

The lands of Transylvania to your east are the goal. Overthrow that Duke and reclaim the dark castle that once belonged to your kin. If only it wasn't for the pagan hordes to your east and the Greek fools to your South.

    Quite a difficult start.

Provence would be quite a decent game. You should also add a German option, we could try to be the Hapsburgs.
