This is about a trainer with a dark past that he doesn't want to really get into, but hints of it are revealed throughout the story. He picks up (or starts with?) a torchic with a different color pattern that has some sort of hidden power. It's not a world where pokemon kill people for sport, but he runs across a body or two as part of a plot. I really can't remember the name of the story. Any help?
