I've been playing a bit of Civilization 5: Brave New World lately and speaking to Oment about the game, I figured that getting a few DLPers together for a game of CIV at some point could be fun.

    Anyone up for it?

I think it would be fun but I wouldn't do it with less then 4 people

If we were to do so, I'd rather have it done in as few sessions as possible, since Civ 5's multiplayer is a piece of shit and barely ever gets to a finished game.

Yeah... We'd have to do it via skype or some such and with everyone setting quite a bit of time aside for it.

Time, and not play with 12 people on a Huge map. I think you want to have 6 players maximum. 8 might just take too long, unless there's an option for simultaneous turns (which would suck bigtime in wars).

But eh, I don't know shit about Civ V multiplayer, so if someone could chime in on that...

And yes, I'm in. Just in case it needed saying.

Heh. I'd be up for it if I had my actual computers. As other DLPers can probably attest the last times we did this I enjoy playing a lot. Especially that first game as I kept claiming almost every wonder from under people. That was fun.

Well there was a Ramses player in that game. But they weren't getting the wonders. Obviously you've never seen how OP the Mayans are with the right tech rush.

I'd be down if it took place on a weekend, I'm a prince/king player though so might be a tad outmatched ^^

Same here. I've clocked in like 100 hours on the game, so I'm still a total newb. xD

Weekend seems like the most sensible option, yeah. The most difficult thing would be to sync time zones. I'm thinking some will have to play late into the night, some from afternoon to evening.

While we're on that subject, could everyone interested put down their time zone for reference?

    Stockholm~ 1+

CEST (Amsterdam, Stockholm, Paris, Rome) - 2

King/Emperor, probably. Been a while since I did the latter, though.

I only recently moved to Civ 5 after exhausting the amazing Civ 4. At 5, I'm prince level. +2 gmt, Israel.

There's an option to have turns simultaneous except during wars. It's the one I usually use.

So @Zeelthor, @Palindrome, @Anna Key, and the fool writing this post have played a few half-completed MP games, one in a FFA that saw Zeelthor failing to go for a culture victory and a bloodless game despite my Aztec pick, and one in a team game (2 human teams, 2 AI teams on Immortal difficulty) that ended with Zeelthor leaving just as the fun was getting started.

And by fun, I mean backstabbing the shit out of Anna by yours truly and Palindrome. Mostly me, mind you. Yes, Zeelthor, that is what you got for taking the heat off of Palindrome by deccing on Shaka/Monty - I think that could've been it for her. Bloody Immortal warmongering AIs and OP units. We thank you for your selfless sacrifice.

The last two games were organised over IRC and took place on Sundays from 1900 CEST, 1800 GMT, 1200 EST, 0900 PST onwards. If someone's interested, just hit up one of us on IRC.

Applicants should be aware that participating in this could lead to exposure to:

    • Bad puns.
    • Innuendo.
    • Keyboards being murdered.
    • Intrigue.
    • Horrid City names.
Amongst a host of other things.

I need to be more aggressive. I ended that game at like +110 gold per turn. Gold that could have been used as upkeep for more dudes.

My name is Palindrome and I approve this message.

Join us in our weekly civ gatherings! They're a lot of fun. You don't need to be present for each one, but drop by if you want. We play while talking on skype and mocking each other, and I'm sorry to say that Oment's warnings are eerily precise.

    To sum it up:
Would you be interested in a trade agreement with England?

You get your science out way sooner, though, so that's good. Might've wanted the third city a tad faster and worked more on tile improvement, but otherwise you're doing great.

Next game, fools will get wrecked. And by fools I mean everyone. Rawr.
