Grab your controllers and tri-corner hats; the time to sail forth upon the Great Sea of Video Game Hype has cometh once more.

The main pre-show conferences don't start until the 12th, and the show itself doesn't start until the 14th, but Squenix will be doing a Deus Ex livestream event today to kick off their run of E3 promotional stuff.

So much shit has already leaked and been announced already. Seems like the week pre-E3 has become an event for B-tier announcements in and of itself.

Anyone wanna do predictions?

I've heard some crazy stuff, and some unsurprising stuff too.

I've heard whispers of Sucker Punch (of inFamous fame) are making a Sony exclusive Spiderman game.

There's (norse) God of War 4. A game from Sony Bend called Dead Don't Ride (I'm just about over 'dead' games tbh).

I've an inkling we might hear something from From with Bloodborne 2. Maybe even a teaser for Kojima's game too - his studio JUST launched an English twitter account and became super active.

Microsoft will obviously be pushing Gears4 andva bunch of new IP surely.

Nintendo... Whatever.

I predict we see virtually nothing of KH3 and 7 remake too. Not with XV around the corner.

MASS EFFECT FUCK YEAH.

I guess that's four words.

 

Another year and likely no Half-Life.

 

I doubt we will see Half-Life 3 for a very long time, it's not worth the risk to company. They make a lot from selling other people's games, not to mention cosmetics in Tf2/Dota2/Csgo .

If it was my call I would never make HL3.

 

CD projeckt will be in attendence, so maybe we'll see some more about 2077? Though I wouldn't expect a game until at minimum 2018.

KH3 will probably not show up, as that 'now in development' trailer from aways back has been confirmed to be yet another premature ejaculation by squenix splooged out when they were still in very early stages.

FFXV is going to be a big player obviously. This is basically Square's last big chance to spoonfeed marketing to the majority of the western gaming public. They'll probably reveal a new cinematic trailer that all the TV spots will be comprised of.

I imagine they'll be pushing Star Ocean too. It needs some spotlight, what with the imminent June 28th NA release and its lukewarm reception in Japan.

EA will probably reveal one of the many Star Wars games being made.

I think hope Mass Effect and Horizon:ZD are also going to show up in a big way.

 

Did you see the KH 2.8 trailer? Some pretty sick, probably-running-in-KH3-engine Aqua gameplay.

I'll be getting that, mostly to play BBS for the first time.

What a weird fucking franchise.

And if CDPR are smart, they'll disappear for a couple of years before resurfacing with lots of info.

 

Pretty certain 2077 is vapourware at this point unfortunately.

 

Eh... no. CDPR is not Square. They've been very open with where they are in development. Being a one-game-at-a-time sized company, they only started creating assets for Cyberpunk when W3 released. Meaning the game has only been in full development for a year.

They also recently upgraded the Witcher 3 engine to facilitate Cyberpunk's development.

So things are definitely progressing.

 

Really looking forward to some solid new information about ME:A. There's whispers about maybe announcing the next Dragon Age game, too, which would be cool, but those seem to be pie-in-the-sky hopes like a Mass Effect Trilogy remaster.

 

Like last year I'm waiting for AAA open-world superhero game and there are rumours of Superman having his own Arkham-like series. I missed Sucker Punch's Spider-Man game rumours, but that would be pretty great too.

CDPR said there will be nothing about 2077, because it's too soon for them to show it off, but maybe they will have a surprise teaser or something like that.

 

Not looking forward to too much this year at E3. Maybe good FFXV news? And hopefully the new Zelda is good.

Though I will be all over any Bloodbourne 2 news. I still think that's unlikely though.

 

Gonna be there this year. Training session is Sunday and I'm working the Thursday sessions next week.

 

I can't muster much excitement about Bioware.

Looking forward to seeing more about the next Zelda, and possibly a Red Dead Redemption sequel.

 

I'm pretty sure Half-Life 3 will never happen at this point. There's pretty much no incentive for anyone on Valve to work on that game just from the sheer expectation from it.

All that said, I'm really looking forward to seeing new IP from anyone if there is going to be any at all.

 

BBS is in 2.5

2.8 is basically Ground Zeros aka important to the story and a demo for the new combat system/engine. It bridges the gap between BBS, 3DDD, and 3.

It also has an HD remake of the 3DS game and a cinematic movie of Unchained from a different perspective than the player on the current mobile game.
In fact Nomura suggested that those capable, (people who can read Japanese) that they play all 3, the browser version of unchained that was released in 2011, the mobile version we have in America now, and the movie in 2.8 due to the differing story. They are all canon however just show slightly different things.

Weird franchise indeed.
