This series takes place on Era, a world apparently reigned or controlled by Prometheus (the military), working to create and maintain peace. Though this peace is threatened by rebells, a group of deranged killers out for blood. Meanwhile in the background the company 'Darkwood' is experimenting with captured civilians to create supersoldiers.

Storywise the first prequel tells the story of Ibuki, a girl who grew up as a daughter of a commander of Prometheus. The second prequel introduces Sakura, her sister Suzuran, and a high up of Darkmoon involved in the experiments.

The setting has some typical elements of a post-apocalyptical or at least pessimistic sci-fi, though I wouldn't call it cyberpunk. Soylent Green comes to mind and several books / movies with the theme of artificially enhanced supersoldiers. Era apparently is fucked up on several levels and only slowly the author reveals how far. The characters aren’t fully fleshed out yet, as we have only seen a few key events of their lifes.

The comic is a full coloured manga style webcomic, and the main story features some animated gifs as pages. The character design is an almost generic manga style, though with a personal touch. The author / artist rarely reverts to the annoying chibi or cat faces, though I fear with the introduction of the character Nexus in the main story this might change.

I like the art style and I acknowledge the effort the artist / author puts into it (though to be fair she apparently is a professional). The story setting and plot so far are great, but it will depend on where she goes with it, and if she actually is planning ahead and going to use the background she was or still is building up.

I know as a webcomic it will progress very slowly, and perhaps never be finished - but then the same goes for quite a few fanfics in my favorites.

    I rate it at 4.5/5
