We have no thread for this yet, which is criminal. I'm working my way through it, just some comments:

    > Love the taxi system. Keeps the world big without annoying highway drives for 5 minutes like in SA.

    > Love that they ganked the targeting system and wall-hide function from The Godfather, both great additions.

    > Cell phone is equally annoying in game as IRL.

    > Missions seem much more balanced, but I find it much easier to die.

    > While it is easy to shake the cops, as like every review I read before buying it mentioned, they're also EVERYWHERE now. Like, holy density. You accidentally bump into these people and have to lose that wanted level before doing anything. Also, every star means a bigger search radius for you, which is a BITCH when resisting arrest [even without guns] = auto 2 star.

    > Encourages suicide by cop. If you get arrested, they take your shit. If you pull a gun on them, they send you to the hospital, you lose some money, keep your arsenal. Choice is obvious but much more blatant in IV than the prior ones.

    > Rag doll physics = awesome, pure and simple. Shooting someone in the leg with a shotty has never been better, much less shooting someone in the foot on the edge of a rooftop with a sniper rifle, and watching them plummet onto a truck.

    What'd others think of it?

Got bored pretty quickly - but then, I've overplayed pretty much all of the games leading up to it and am just sick of that kind of gameplay in general.

That said, combat and driving were improved greatly I thought.

    EEEEEYYYYYYYY! NIIICOOO! ITS YOUR COUSIN!

Honestly, the controls were vastly improved over even GTA:SA which had better than average controls for the series. They really could have improved on the camera though. :/ I still find it a little annoying.

Sound is awesome as always as well. The GTAIII Trilogy had some pretty big names doing voices, which was awesome. Ray Liotta was probably one of the best castings in the series, outside of Dennis fucking Hopper as a porn director.

The new talent they brought in did just as awesome though, so no hate on them. Ambients, soundtrack, all that was as good as it typically is in the series.

Aiming, I think, was giving a huge improvement, something they've always had issues with. :| Driving was made easier as well. Although, for lazy fags like me, cabbies are the way to go. 8D

Graphics were good, controls were solid, but fuuuuuck. I hate that god damned cellphone. I can't do shit in the game, without fucking Roman calling. EEYYY! NICO! ITS YOUR COUSIN, ROMAN! WANNA GO TO STRIP CLUB?!

The game is awesome, but I'd only rate it at a 7 out of 10. Feels pretty much like every other GTA and like Godfather. The story is insanely awesome, and it can keep you playing the game, but I've played so many of the others, I can still get kinda bored after a while. Random massacres are quite frequent in those times. >_>

There isn't a lot NEW to the game. Its pretty much just a better designed GTA game, sacrificing massive city size for smaller, more detailed areas.

I still love it though. >_>

Definitely noticed the camera as well, actually the first thing that started bugging me a lot. Had to change the camera to the first-person for the racing/following missions because it's so hard to see.

Whilst the game was great fun, and I enjoyed it immensely, is anyone else starting to miss the fun factor from GTA? Sure, I originally played GTA3 to run over pedestrians, kill hookers and generally be the bad guy just like most teenagers at the time, but there was also.....the tongue in cheek comedy that made it great if you know what I mean.

GTA3 parodied a lot, and dropped comedy into its scenes a lot. I'll never forget the "Hey, I'm bored. When you gonna drill me?" line.

Vice City was the pinnacle with whole mission arcs dedicated to comedy, like the Porn Studios, and stuff like Pressing Issues on the radio that has still not been topped to date.

San Andreas reigned it back in a bit, sticking with Vice City's more obvious comedy but limiting it back to GTA3 levels.

GTA4....well, the only real element of it left in GTA4 was Just or Unjust on the radio, which was my favourite part of the game in many ways.

It's a shame as far as I'm concerned. The games are still great and all, and I'll still buy GTA5, but when I think back to Vice City and the laughs I had whilst playing it I can't help but feel there's something missing from the more recent entries. They're trying to be more realistic, but I'm not necessarily sure that's a good thing. A large part of the point of GTA for me was the comedy, the satire, the sarcastic take on things. I really can't understand why Rockstar seem intent on phasing it out.

The main thing I'm annoyed at them phasing out is the property system - buying houses, and buying businesses that generate you steady income. WTF Rockstar?

What do the rest of you think of the multiplayer?

For me it was pretty good, but only when played with people you know, joining random games online was shitty more often than not.

Haven't given it a run yet, but it looked like a good system for a GTA game.

I played for 40 hours, which is pretty respectable for a game, but after that - nothing. In the previous games, mindless killing was a fun way to kill time - now, not so much. Some of the achievements were pretty cool, but I expected more.

Definitely a good game, though. A must have, imo.

Eh, I'll probably get some hate over this post but, out of all the GTA games, I liked Vice City better. They did approve of the aiming with the guns and everything, but it was boring as shit until you got to the choppers.

I got my achievement points out of it but that's about it.

I played it, got halfway into it, and can't remember enough of it to really comment on it. Not something I can say about Vice City or GTA3. Sent it back, downloaded the radio stations.
