June submissions are now officially closed. July's theme will be Politics.

    Get on it, boys.

June Judges, get judging. Inb4earlyrelease: June stories will be made public on the seventh, no exceptions. Don't ask.

Though I love political stories, I fail at writing them.

Therefore, I will volunteer to be a judge.

I've never written a political fic, but I think I'll give it a try before throwing myself into the judge pool.

Interesting category, and certainly not what I was expecting.

But I'm definitely writing something for it.

Politics, really? It's not that I don't love political stories (which I do) and I am throwing my hat in to judge, but I'm kinda wondering when we'll get to the last two official DLP library categories.

Would love to judge this category, and I also feel guilty for not finishing my crossover in time. Still, politics would have to be my favourite genre overall, judging it would be amazing.

Well, hopefully after this will be Sick and Perverse, but Romance would probably end up as that anyways.

Oh, come on, my story isn't that S&P. Pretty mild by DLP standards, all things considered... *cough* Vash *cough*

Who said we need to do things be genre? After all, Severitus used to be a Library category here on DLP...

Anyway, instead of rehashing every category over and over again, I think using a topic instead of a genre allows for more creativity on the authors' part and might incentivise people to write who wouldn't try to compete in something as broad as Humour or General.

And I'm looking forward to what everyone will make of this topic.

If anyone has any ideas for the next contests, they're very welcome to share them with us.

No idea how to write a politics story, so count me in to judge instead.

Not sure if I'll write for this one (or if it'll be finished in time if I do). I do have some suggestions for future contests:

    1. Film Noir (in lieu of restricted section, though the entries might end up there on average)
    2. Horror
    3. Squibs
    4. Character Inversion - whether it's a gender flip, personality reversal, evil twin Skippy or a whole mirror-universe
    5. Madness - bonus points if Bellatrix & Luna seem comforting by comparison
    6. Quidditch/Sports
    7. Slapstick, specifically physical humor
    8. Creature feature - focus on a non-human race or character from canon or mythology
    9. Aliens (real or imagined)
    10. Romance
As the topics are meant to inspire rather than limit, I think these provide some open fields for exploration.
