A great story I found while surfing ffnet. It's a well done mystery story about Harry as the miraculous 'Chief Forensics Officer' of the MoM--however centered around the events occuring after, all of a sudden, an 18 yrold Harry takes over mentally. There's womanizing, flirting, politics, blackmail, it draws you in, basically. Try it out. Ummm, critiques....too mysterious? 5/5

An excellent story that I followed in WbA for quite some time until the updates became more stagnated. Sophisticated writing style, flowing descriptions, and ultimately a boggling chain of events that leaves me wanting at every chapter. Perhaps a touch of too much mystery without the needed reconciliation but still a beautiful work done by top-notch author.

A perfect example of what should be in the DLP Library.

 

Whoa - is this really not in the library? Damn, whoops. I "found" this story myself when I asked Amerision what he was working on for his next story. What a surprise!

Great story, certainly.

Really good so far.

 

Hm, I'm going to go against the general grain here and place this story around the 2/5 range. Squib!harry = fail. I know he's not entirely a squib but he's got almost no magic. Not to mention Harry has been built up to be a genius of some form and having his younger self be in control is more or less negating any benefits that'd have.

Most of the story is going to be Harry being kicked around and bigots that Harry just has to endure. It'll make for nothing but tangible frustration for the reader.

 

I'm enjoying this fic. 4/5.

The mystery side is interesting, and having Harry the opposite of super!Harry is a nice change.

EDIT: Hope an updates comes soon. Three months, and its only up to chapter five...

 

This is definitely 5 star material.

I love the noir leanings and a story reminiscient of old Bogart films. There is still talent left in HP fanfiction.

 

Did you skip over that little part where Harry beat the shit out of two wizards without magic? This Harry may not be a magical powerhouse, and at the moment he's understandably confused, but making (rather unjustified at this point) conclusions about what will happen to Harry this far into the story seems premature. And immature.

As for the story itself, I enjoyed it immensely, not only the investigative mystery, but the political intrigue. I admit I am a glutton for stories about power struggles that aren't summed up by jumped up super spells, ancient magic, and overall magical ability. 5/5.

 

Considering what I know of Amer, what I know of the story, the general atmosphere, the story itself, and my like of character driven stories rather than action-y ones, I'm going to have to disagree with you, Virail.

The story is awesome. And Harry isn't a squib. I remember at least two references to Harry having "Just enough magic" to survive, one from the two wizards I think, and one from Harry himself. So something is up. And I, for one, want to know what it is.

I've talked to Amer quite a lot, and from his personality and the way dude thinks, I can only say this is going to get better and better.

This is an amazing fic. It really makes a person wanting to read more. The intrigue, mystery behind the scenes and the questions that needed to be answered as well as the type of people he has around.

And the best part of it all is, how is Harry going to survive getting home, or rather how is he going to survive once people find out who he really is. Lets face it, at the rate he is going, someone is going to find out there is something wrong with harry.

Either way, this fic is excellent.

I read this a while ago in the WBA forums. Definitely good stuff. Perhaps moving a little slow for so people, especially with the magic thing, but I still can't wait to see what happens.

Wow !!!!!!!! Story rules, and the second wow is for the lack of Sheep Porn , boy Amer loooves his animal porn..

 

it's a... Different... story. It's both repulsive and intreaging in a horror/mystery sort of way.

I must admit that finding a married Harry almost completely devoid of magic is more than a little bit shocking, and my first impulse was to leave it, but there is something intreaging about it too. The loss of his magic seems to be a symptom of something deeper, and the fact that he is married to a somehow mute Hanna Abbot has deep connotations as well.

I can't help but wonder what's gone on with the world as we know it. Neville is damn near rabid, a horrifying twisted mockery of himself. Harry is all but muggle, and yet every girl we've seen so far seems to have fallen for harry in some shape or form.

I can't help but think that this is a mockup of an improbable future and that Harry somehow is still back in what he considers the present instead of the body he's currently inhabiting...

Sorry about the rambling, but I needed to get it out of my head.

While I'm not about to pull out a perfect five, It's certainly not a three story either.

I was a little peeved that Neville could beat up Harry so easily, but knowing that Harry has the ability to fight without magic eases that a bit. The magical handicap actually makes the story more interesting, as long as Harry is good at something, in this case examining dead bodies. The handicap forces the author to make Harry awesome in ways that the common author doesn't. 4

 

Nice update. Will Harry ever get his magic back? Will he be stuck in this dimension or return home at some point? I am starting to have all these questions queue up in my brain. Should Harry begin looking for answers to his predicament more frantically? It would be nice to see more interaction between Harry and Hannah, as well. The fact that he's feeling guilty and regretful seems to me that he should be more willing to confide in her about his little confusing secret.

 

Not really an update since most of it was in WBA 4 month ago. Although it'd be great know some of the back story soon. Curious to see how this all came to be.

 

Excellent fic, though a bit different from the Dark!Harry fics that Amerison has pumped out in the past. I'm especially looking forward to Neville's past and why he turned out to be so against Harry.
