Its been two decades since HP fan fiction began and we have had millions of it. So which is the fic that is the best objectively in terms of writing style, plot, character development, originality etc as of now?

 

There has never, ever, been a work of fanfiction - or any form of art - that can objectively said to be the best. And there never will be. Sorry to disappoint.

 

Yeah, awarding something the title of being 'the best' is really at odds with objectivity.

That being said, if you were asking for the singular story that I'd consider to be the best, I'd answer with 'A Black Comedy' by nonjon.

 

Quite a hard question. People have so many different interests in terms of what they like in a fic:

- How similar it is to canon and how much is AU
- If it's Harry-centric.
- Favourite pairings.
- Their own interpretations of how characters should behave etc.

Too many things to list. In the end, you won't get a general agreement to the 'best' fanfiction ever created. It's quite impossible.

I don't have a specific fic I can class as best, but there are multiple fics I enjoy the most. Most notably the Denerian series and a bunch of others, too lazy to list them all

 

Why so? What's so special about it? I have never read it.
