So I recently read Jeconais' fic Hope, which features a Harry teaching flying at Beauxbatons. This has sparked an interest in fics that have Harry as a Professor.

Are there any decents fics with with either this element, or as a premise?

Time travel stories where he teaches in another era work too, although I've read all the Harry/Bellatrix ones, and that one where he is back in Grindlewalds era.

I think I remember there being some Harry/Ginny time travel one where they taught in the Maurader era that was pretty decent.

 

'Wizard for Hire' by Dark Syaoran had a chapter with Harry teaching for a bit. It's in the WbA. Other than that there isn't much, most use that premise to set up some ridiculous teacher-student relationship filled with gratuitous angst.

Alternate Universe. Two hurting, almost broken people reach toward the sunlight. This story has implied sexual violence and a Ginny who is two years younger than she was in canon.

Harry is the DADA professor at Hogwarts and Ginny is a seventh year. The war pretty much broke both of them - Harry saw and did stuff that traumatized him while Ginny was imprisoned in Malfoy manor for three months and well...... lets say her experience makes Ollivander's sound like a vacation. It has PTSD and angst and Ginny and stuff that DLP doesn't usually like (although 2005 DLP would have probably wanked to Ginny's torture scenes), but it has excellent writing, great characterizations and nice smut scenes - the usual Deadwoodpecker fare. It is the best Hurt/Comfort genre fanfic I've ever read, if that helps matters.

 

I remember a fic, where Harry traveled back in time, killed both Dumbledore and Grindelwald and became Headmaster of Hogwarts... But not it's title. What a pain. I suck at names.

I clicked on like 15 of those, and couldn't get past the first chapter in any of them, but who knows, maybe one is.

 

Well... who knows.

There are so many of them, that there might be one.

But then - they usually feature Dom!Ginny/sub!Harry, really bad "Mr. Potter" / "Mrs. Potter" banter, Prank Wars, Moldyshorts, ...

I just thought the OP might like them, as he mentioned this genre in his first post.

 

I have two more. They only feature the Proffesor Harry, no time travel involved, but they are intriguing in their own way. They are a very imaginative (I think the most inventive in fact) rendering of the 19 years later genre. They have a complex Harry (OOC of course, because the canon one was useless), some interesting OCs, though the rest of the cast is pretty much cardboard cut. It also suffers from very bad writing, both in technique and pacing. What it does deliver is magic. It is all about magic. Which is central and most important feature of both stories and combined with the author's immense imagination makes a weak but very thought provoking story. It also focuses a lot on Harry's teaching career. The second one mostly, but not exclusively.

Harry's Future

I tried to read Harry's Future because I really enjoy the Professor Potter premise, but holy fuck is it terrible.

 

It even has a third sequel.

 

There is also Like Some Song You Can't Unlearn which I remember as rather original and not shit(tm).

 

A good portion of Delenda Est has Harry-as-a-teacher during his parents' generation as part of its premise. During that part of the story it was pretty good (or at least well above average for fan fiction) but then Harry stops being a teacher, there's a time skip, and the quality of the story goes down quite a bit from there.

 

Thanks, this is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. Shame its long abandoned.

Most stories with this premise seem really awful. Although thats probably true of all premises.
