Those were already in the original Samurai Jack, no? I distinctly remember neon night clubs with alien hookers dancing in fluorescent tubes.

I don't know why I think this equates to guns and grenades, but those were there probably as well.

I've really got to rewatch the original series. But yeah, this looks neat.

To be honest I am not sure anymore. It says that time no longer effects him, it could he time traveled or does not age. I think the trailer also says that he wants to get back to the past

He was thrown into the future where Aku's word is law. He's been shot at by multiple bad guys throughout the series from bounty hunters to every day folk if my memory isn't that warped.

For whatever reason he doesn't age - its been 50 years since season 4. Evidently there's only so much Jack can take before he decides it's time for some shooting of his own which no doubt will be near the end of the season and probably revolve around finally defeating whatever the protagonists are.

Albeit this is coming from someone who maybe caught 1/4 of the episodes to date and needs to sit down and watch the show from start to finish.

HOLY SHIT was that awesome. I just saw the first episode of the new season.

Jack is really back. I love the addition of the 7 Sisters.

It was a great start, that's for sure. The animation quality is gorgeous, and the plot interesting. I was really digging the enemy Jack ran into, and the assassination squadron reared up to hunt him looks promising.

See, Cartoon Network? Was it so hard to recreate an old but popular cartoon series and make it just as good, if not better, than the original?

Now, if only they'll do something similar with Teen Titans.

Yeah fucking hell the moment the ecstasy of gold derivative came on... I always loved Samurai Jack for it's fantastic sound and visuals and this new reboot has certainly captured that feeling so far.

I am loving it. It is exactly what I remember and hasn't lost its charm. I'm curious if we'll see more of aKu this season or whether he'll stay a little more hands off. Gruff jack is good jack in my book. Looking forward to figuring out with this mounted warrior business is.

    This episode was definitely awesome.

One might say that it's worth losing your head over ;)

Bit late to the party on this one, but jeez is this some fine television. Re-watched episode two a couple of times. I haven't been into Genndy's work all that much since Samurai Jack ended ages ago. Hotel Transylvania was a weird thing considering his previous directorial flair. Then again, I was kind of a Samurai Jack addict back in the day. Its distinctive art style probably coloured my perceptions of anything Genndy worked on afterwards.

This feels like something he's wanted to do for a long time. It really shows in all aspects of production. Everything from the moment Jack breaks away from his past self in episode two is pure, animated poetry. Supremely stoked for episode three and the rest of this six part series.

So just caught up and shit damn am I ever impressed. This is easily some of the finest animation I have ever seen. The tomb scene where Jack hid in the crypt with Ecstasy of Gold rolling in the background was magnificent. I can only hope they play it again when Jack picks them apart in the forest.
