Is there a plan for a Scryer service for AO3? I have to wade through pages of slash to find a single readable fic.

I can't see how such a system would work. The problem with AO3 is that the stories are tagged incorrectly: people tag for secondary pairings and characters that are barely even featured in the story (or sometimes only mentioned in passing). The search system can only return results as good as the information it mines. On AO3 there are thousands of stories tagged Harry/female where Harry isn't even in the story. That doesn't bode well for any attempt to make a superior search.

    While I feel that's unfortunate, it's understandable.

Ugh. Thanks for the quick and succinct response.

Taure's right on the money. I had permission from AO3 to scrape their site, wrote the code to crawl, but the results were less than stellar. I'm still considering putting it in as something you can optionally enable with your query, but I haven't invested any time as of yet.
