    Ave Maria - Schubert

Something about this German version makes it perfect for repeating quietly in the background when i'm revising. Will definitely take me back here if I listen to this in a few years time.

Not really big into Macklemore or his particular talk/sing/rap deal, but this new song with Ed Sheeran is resonating with me on a weird level and I'm not sure why. I've never been in a relationship serious enough to give the idea of kids extensive thought.

    Immortals by Fall Out Boys.

I stumbled upon it recently and it's my go to song when I'm playing Dota now.

It's not yet my song of the moment, actually, because I was just linked to it by my brother, but you can bet your ass it will be from now on, and I wanted to share it, anyway.

    Joanna Newsom - Sapokanikan

I'm not sure what exactly I just listened to, but I did like it.

It was an awesome harp player and composer being awesome. Check out her old album Have One On Me, if you're interested. Or go balls in with Ys

Same playlist for both links, but I found Ys myself. Her method of singing and use of archaic words does make it somewhat difficult to understand her at times. I couldn't make it through Monkey & Bear.

The most-anticipated single from The Weeknd's new album came out like 24 hours ago, and I've listened to it at least 24 times since then.

This guy is so interesting to me. His lyrics are like cross-culture Tom Waits - bleak, darkly indulgent, almost fantastical - and he's slowly evolved into a more mainstream sound while staying interesting. Like, some of his recent stuff straight-up sounds like Michael Jackson. This new one sounds almost like Drake. Whereas his older stuff is distinctly just... him. More stripped down.

Usually when artists do that (go broader) it ends up being a huge turn-off. Like, (semi-obscure reference), Robert Randolph and the Family Band was great in its raw, soulful form, and then that "big album" with all the collaborations a la Santana just absolutely sucked. None of the same energy.

    Somehow The Weeknd avoids that.

I've been listening to a lot of older songs:

Fantasy, Vision of Love, Emotions, and Love Takes Time by Mariah Carey--->it's so refreshing to listen to meaningfully written pop songs by someone who actually has incredible singing talent.

Ain't no Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, I want to know what love is by Foreigner, and Where did our love go? by the Supremes----> Are all really well put together, easy to sing along to and have meaningful lyrics

Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Splish Splash by Bobby Darin, and My Boyfriend's Back by The Angels --> are really catchy and fun to listen to

Just Dance, Maps, Problem, Come and Get It, Young and Beautiful, Stacy's Mom and Womanizer by Scott Bradlee and the Postmodern Jukebox ---> this band takes pop songs and covers them, usually in jazz-y style

Creep and No Scrubs by TLC---> I just love everything they put out

My Love by Sia is hauntingly beautiful

You Know You Like It by DJ Snake and Alunageorge--> I love the beat and the singing

Without Me - Eminem. On mobile so no link, and the regular tempo is good, but at 1.5x(IIRC) on my mp3 player it's just phenomenal. Certainly better than most of the stuff I've heard from him lately(ie Monster).

Dancing in the Moonlight by King Harvest--> it's a party song but it's focused on people having a good time. It's not over sexualized and there's not a single mention of drinking or smoking. Also the hook is catchy as hell.

I know it's a bit of a bump, but I hope it's okay in a thread like this.

Kishi Bashi - Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It!

I'm a big fan of this guy, and this song in particular. It's one of those perfect weekday morning, walking to get a coffee and a muffin, run into a good friend kind of happy songs.

    Arkells - Leather Jacket

Just good poppy rock song. Super catchy chorus. Woman in the video seems like a handful.

    Ben Howard - Small Things

I listen to this song all the time when I'm taking the bus home late at night.
