    A Stargate fic, no crossover.

It diverges after the movie. The main idea is that the Abydos gate isn't buried, the US decides to set-up a permanent base on Abydos, they find out about the Goa'uld. It goes from there.

Pretty interesting idea, fairly well written. 4/5 from me.

2 out of 5 for me, if that.

It comes off as much more of a fix-fic than anything in terms of re-imagination. NID and Kinsey are immediately neutralized, they make okayish friends with the Tollan, they find the Heliopolis rather quickly, etc...

The writing's average, though it obviously shifts in quality from one writer to another. Some of it is either cliche or stilted at points, which drags down the story as a whole. Plus some of Lee's thoughts on the Goa'uld tech basically hints at "Humanity, fuck yeah!" in the near future.

Had they chosen to do a real re-imagination, I might have been more interested.

I thought it was pretty good and it has me excited for another update.

Sure, it has its clichés, but those are overshadowed by the scale of what's going on in the story; you don't get stuck in them. As for the humans-can-do-it-better routine, it's there, but not so flashy and it isn't detrimental to the story.

Well worth my time and has me going; "Humanity, fuck yeah!" 4/5.

Hah, XSGCOM was such a guilty pleasure. I have to say, the name of the sequel "Terra from the deep", especially when you realize the connotations in the story is just such an awesome name.

I'll probably give this a go, though 47k words is a bit small. Hope the update rate is decent.
