ScottPress. So basically, you say that Fool Moon sucked because of the fact that it was comparatively very weak?

CheddarTrek. My apologies for not seeing your post earlier.

I suppose that with overwhelming arguments in the favor of starting with book 1, I'll start with book one.

Side note: ChedderTrek, what job do you have, if any?

CheddarTrek. I can honestly say that I have no idea whether you're joking or not. Anyways, what I was about to say is that you could make a good lawyer if you're into that kind of thing.

She does. It's kind of amazing how she manages to maintain an internet connection all the time despite usually being so far from a hotspot. Keep up the good work, Ched!

I think you'll do much better by just ignoring everyone who says the early books are weak. Comparatively, they are weaker than the awesomeness that is to come, but I don't regret reading them when I reread the series.

Generally if I start a reread in the middle, I start with book 6 or 7. To add a counterpoint to what everyone else is saying, I wasn't a huge fan of Summer Knight. Still enjoy reading it though.

Considering Jim knocked out the first 3 books as his project for a creative writing class and well, compared to where we are now then yeah, Storm Front, Fool Moon & Grave Peril aren't all that strong.

But just like Miss Rowling, the world Jim's managed to well, not build per-se but add to with his own twist on things alongside the various useage of Mythos makes Dresden one of the few book series I still go back & re-read constantly.

I'm on what, my 7th re-read of Skin Game now? Admittedly that's because I'm waiting on Peace Talk & refuse to pay £25 a book to finish the Horus Heresy thus far - but that's side-tracking.

I feel like the first 3 books each have their own selling point and naturally as Jim's writing improved, so did the books.

Storm Front - We get our own little view into the world of Dresden and just how crazy things can get.

Fool Moon - I personally liked the idea behind the bad guys, it was... different to your standard Werewolf stuff. In my opinion. Even if you -have- seen Goosebumps.

Grave Peril - Michael. Need I say more?

I hope you enjoy the books Myrrdin, I enjoy the adult world with a gun-slingin' wizard fighting off various nasties of the night. Or just plain old people. We're scumbags in equal measure too.

Innomine. Thanks for the reply. I pretty much came up to that conclusion.
BsuperB. Thanks for the reply. By the way I'm seeing this thread going on, you people talk as if DF is your life. Not hard to imagine, really.

After I had emptied my wallet to buy all of those books, I thought that maybe I should give my opinion of what I think of the story at the first page of the chapter, and then at the end alongside my views of the characters. What do you guys say?

If you really want to give your opinion just review every book when you finish it.

I suppose that would give us the opportunity to cackle at all the horrible and awesome things you're about to experience.
