The episode was really great; it was nice to have a serious episode after so much comedic episodes. I enjoyed seeing more tension about Lucifer and the apocalypse. Thats always entertaining. I really like the Alistair so far. He seems pretty cool, despite wearing a pediatrician. :p

The angels once again were pretty badass. They always seem pretty quick to resort to violence. If these are the angels then I wonder about God and his ideals on this show.

Next week is the last episode until after Christmas, I believe. So expect one hell of a cliff-hanger.

Yeah I get what your saying, but still it seems to me and this could easily just be my having a skewed perception but like Cyclops said the angels never seem to want to take the peaceful option. So far as I've seen their approach has been "What do you mean the problem isn't fixed yet, ah well fuck it, kill them, kill their mom and kill their dog too just to be on the safe side." You get what I'm saying?

Hmm are you sure, don't they usually have a Christmasy episode around the Holidays? I know there was one about a killing Santa.

As for the angels, Castiel doesn't seem like a bad guy. Uriel seems like a dick, but then again he should be since, he's the go to guy for 'cleanups'. I think the writes are wanting you to think the angels are bad, and lure you into thinking Ruby is good. I really don't want her to be though.

As for the 'sex' scene, it was pretty damn hot for a show on a basic network. I always wonder how Supernatural gets away with shit like that. The sometimes show some graphic bloody shit, and while the scene didn't show anything, it seemed a bit rougher than what you normally see on basic tv.

Yep, I'm sure. Last year's Christmas episode was the only one there has been so far. Besides, I think the boys have more important things to worry about than Christmas this year.

Actually, based on the show's current events, this might be a really good time for everyone to really go all out about Christmas. Show the flag, as it were.

Holy Shit, why doesn't this show win any awards? The acting is good, the plot is well developed... W/E this episode kicked ass. I still think Ruby's evil, and it was a nice touch making the parallel between Sam shagging a demon and Dean shagging an angel. The way they went about it was nice too, with the demon being more lust filled, and the angel being more sensual. The Titanic handprint was a bit much though.

I definitely enjoyed the episode. The only disappointing thing is that it won't be on again until January 15.

That may have been the best two hours to come out the New CW since its creation.

I was surprised that even the smallville episode was high quality.

Doomsday was wonderfully freaky. And even though I got a cloverfield mimic feel from the camera, it was all really well done.

Actually the part where chloe opens her eyes in the fortress was chilling.

And Lana was surprisingly hot. I didn't get a michael jackson vibe this time.

But Supernatural was the cherry on top. Specificly the surprise angel.

When I saw the trailers I thought they were going to include her in the main cast as a tag along and I was admittedly a bit worried but they completely threw me for a loop with how they handled it.

Honestly I thought they were going to make her the anti christ or something... you know after dean found love in her.

But Uriel is weirding me out. I thought angels didn't fel emotions from what little miss fallen angel said. He was definetley throwign off a angry vibe there. Also what specificly happened to alistair. Was he destroyed or did he go with Hot Angel.

Speaking of ... Holy fuck. She's smoking hot!

As it has been stated tonights episode was epic. The fight between the angels and the demons was very cool. Especially the fact that Castiel got his ass beat before Anna went supernova. Also a fact that I found very interesting was that if I'm not reading to far into what Ruby said is that Sam could theoretically take out Alistair, he can't right now because he's let his power degenerate. This is probably bad logic but if Alistair could go mano a mano with an angel and Sam could take him out, does that mean that Sam could go one on one with an angel in terms of power?

When the angels showed up tonight I was wondering what would happen if Sam used his powers on them. Could he excorcise an angel the same way as a demon?

The question I have is why couldn't Castiel banish Alistair? At first I thought it was because Alistair is a big top demon, but the writers seemed to insinuate something else. When Castiel tried, they cut to Uriel exorcizing away. It almost paralleled the two. One follows the rules but is an ass, the other wants to help humans but has lost his "angel way". I think Castiel is getting weaker and is becoming more and more human.

I know its probably crazy but I always had this little theory that the reason that Sam gets injured or is in pain when he uses his powers on demons is that they were never meant to be used on demons but they were actually meant to work on the exact opposite. Azazel knew that the war was coming and he wanted his own little team of assassins to be able take on the angels when they came down and that's why he made his special children so could have his own "super-soldiers".

    Best line in this episode:
    Ruby: What?
Dean: Nothing, it's just an angel and a demon ridinig in a backseat.
It's like a setup to a bad joke... or a "Penthouse Forum" letter.
    Sam: Dude, reality.... porn....
    Dean: You call this reality??

I wouldn't call this a spoiler, but just in case, I'll put this article in spoiler tags.

'Supernatural' actor Misha Collins is the new angel on the block

    By Ian Spelling
    The New York Times Syndicate

Someone must have made a deal with the devil.

Defying the laws of television, which stipulate that series peak early and gradually dwindle, the CW horror series "Supernatural," now in its fourth season, is enjoying a ratings surge and all signs point to a renewal for a fifth year.

Much of the credit goes to series creator/executive producer Eric Kripke, who has crafted the series' current, supremely watchable Heaven vs. Hell/apocalypse-in-the-making story lines, and to stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who play Sam and Dean Winchester, the intrepid brothers who crisscross the country in their 1967 Chevy Impala, battling the forces of evil in all its many incarnations.

But there's also an unexpected gift from above: Castiel (Misha Collins), the handsome, trench-coat-sporting angel who earlier this season plucked Dean from Hell and who, with his partner Uriel (Robert Wisdom), continues to keep an eye on the Winchester boys. The character has become a fan favorite, and Collins will stick around far beyond the six episodes for which he initially signed on.

"I'm totally flabbergasted," Collins says. "I had no intimation that there would be any kind of reaction like this at all. I just thought it would be another recurring guest-star spot that would fade away real quick. But the fan reaction has been huge and - this is big news - if the show gets picked up for a fifth season, they're going to make me a regular on the show.

"And I think that's in large part due to the fan reaction, which has been really amazingly supportive and somewhat obsessive."

So is Castiel a good guy in a bad situation or a bad guy trying to avert a fatal fall? Collins, who at 34 has a list of credits that includes guest shots on "Charmed" (1999) and "Without a Trace" (2007), a recurring role as a Serbian assassin on "24" (2002) and a part in the romantic comedy/fantasy "Over Her Dead Body" ( 2008 ), votes for the former possibility.

"I would like to think that Castiel is a good guy in a bad situation," Collins says, speaking by cell telephone from Brooklyn, where he's visiting friends. "I'm not entirely informed as to what his future holds for him, but that's what I'm working with internally.

"I think that what's going on is that Heaven is not such a perfect place," he continues, "that it's not as perfect as we'd all like to imagine, and that there are a lot of bureaucratic machinations going on and sacrifices that have to be made along the way. I think the ends justify the means in the heavenly bureaucracy, and Castiel is not always necessarily happy with that.

"I could be totally wrong, but I think he's a good guy."

Castiel's personality and his relationships with Sam and Dean, as well as with Uriel, continue to evolve, much to Collins' satisfaction.

"In my mind Castiel is starting to develop an admiration for Dean and the stance that Dean seems to stake out as he goes along," Collins says. "And I have been sent as something of a protector of Dean. I mean, I rescued him from Hell.

"I think that Sam is a bit of a wild card in the eyes of the heavenly authorities," the actor says. "I think that we see him as being either a potentially great ally or a serious liability, and we're not really sure how that's going to play out in the end.

"Uriel, I think he's much more militant and more dogmatic than Castiel," Collins concludes, "and I don't frankly think that we get along that well, but we're sort of forced to work together.

"These are definitely subjective interpretations, but that's what I think."

Now that it's clear that Castiel will be sticking around awhile, Collins sees plenty of room for growth in the character.

After all, the new angel in town hasn't been in the company of flesh-and-blood mortals for more than 2,000 years.

Thanks for posting that - it'll give us a lot to consider. I like the "good guy in a bad situation" idea. If Castiel (and I love that name) works with the Winchesters, they'll get taken by surprise when something forces them to realise that his whole and only goal is to keep Lucifer and the rest of the Fallen imprisoned.

It might be interesting to meet the man who Castiel is possessing.

So, the show is back starting tomorrow. Here's to hoping the second half of the season is every bit as good as the first half was.

Since no one else is going to say it I will...

I wasn't impressed with the new episode. It was the expected angst and the cliche Enjoyed torturing plot twist.

The family was underwhelming and poorly acted. Not the best performance the show has provided us with.

The general plot of the story... meh. I saw the Not a Ghost twist so I don't think it was very groundbreaking.

This episode will most likely only be featured in angst reals for Dean preluding dean centric episodes.

Look at the name, it should be obvious.
That was a twisted episode even by Supernatural's standards. The incest twins were actually scarier than a lot of the other stuff they have done, but the part that got me the most was the incest chick eating that rat. I didn't really get what the Supernatural aspect of the episode was, though.
