Couldnt agree more. He talked in one interview about how all fantasy and scifi writers live in Tolkien's shadow. Welcome to the shadow of Rothfuss.

For most books, I can find a copy online within a few days of it's release date.

For this one, I think I'll actually pay for a paper copy.

I'm out of thumbs-ups, but pretty much what Iztiak said. I can't remember the last time I bought a book that wasn't for school (jbern's anthology doesn't count), and I'll be breaking that long streak by getting Wise Man's Fear. It'll probably be an autographed copy, no less, because Joe is just persuasive like that (also because I can't go to a book signing event where Rothfuss will be there and not get a signed copy). March 1st can't come soon enough.

There is a difference though: Rothfuss signs any book that is sent to him. There's probably a decent number of books signed by Rothfuss out there. Not so much with Tolkien.

After reading that, I can't decide if I would be more amused if Elodin actually had a point to making them do all of that stuff, or if he just likes fucking with them.

He seems to try to both at the same time. He's trying to teach them something, but if he can fuck with them at the same time, it's just that much better.

True. I'm just hoping we see more 'jump off the roof.' moments.

And now I'm glad there isn't the fandom for Name of the Wind - can you imagine how much slash that single line would inspire?

Edit: I did thoroughly enjoy the scene though. Looking forward to next week :D

Uh, Is it necessary to buy after march 1 on that site? Cause right now its not available in my country. Also, my local bookstore recently went into recievership and can no longer order books. No hardcopy for me, at least for a little while.

Of the twelve Kingkiller Chronicle fics on FF.net, four are slash. Three of these are Kvothe/Bast, the other is Kvothe/Elodin. The majority of the others don't have a pairing. Of those that do, one is Kvothe/Auri, two are Elodine/OC and are presumably not slash, the only other story claiming to have an eventual pairing only has original characters.

Alright, autographed copy/priority ticket in signing line is reserved. I don't know why I feel like I'm spending a lot of money...when it comes to textbooks I usually just pay whatever's required (after finding the best deals, of course), and some of them I don't even use.

Joe, I love your writing. I just need to keep telling myself that to suppress the burning hatred and envy.
