I found this series of stories while searching for HP/FD pairings. The writing's decent, and it gets exponentially better as the story goes on. Fleur sounds like a bitch in the beginning, but her character develops nicely. A large part of the story is about how Fleur gets to put into the Triwizard Tournament. The story follows canon nearly to the spot in the beginning, but once again it improves later on. There are deviations and a nice touch of mystery is put. The author takes away Fleur's veela powers, which kind of ruined the point of the story for me, since I wanted to see Harry paired with a veela. But by then it was so good I continued to read. And it was a sound decision.

The best part about the story is its tone. It's written in diary format, 1st person, and the author writes it very effectively. Unfortunately, the second story is in 3rd person. I found it uninteresting - the thing that attracted me to the story was gone - and didn't read it. Does anybody know if it gets better?

A decent story. Not breathtaking or great, but it has no devastating flaws either. The 1st person perspective pushes it over the edge into DLP Library territory instead of IP82's thread.

    4/5

Edit: I shouldn't have put the second story inside this review, as I didn't read it. So I've deleted it, per Kate's suggestion. I based this recommendation entirely on the first one, which is what I'm recommending for the library.

The (apparently really bad) sequel can be found here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2216144/1/The-Scorpion-s-Sting

No, this is not a good series. I stopped reading it, myself, shortly after I stopped betaing it--that was only for a few chapters in the beginning of the second one. The writing is so-so, and there's nothing spectacular about the plot. I give it a 3/5, because while it's not terrible, it's not any good, either.

EDIT: Oh, and you'd think it'd be a little hotter, with the 2 French Teen lesbians who are best friends with Fleur. FAIL. For that, 2/5!

I tired to read it a while ago, I just couldn't get into it for some reason. Don't know why that is.

Did you say 2 French Teen lesbians!? Maybe this story deserves an extra look by me. Or did the author ruin it?

I've come across this series before. The first story is good, the second sucks. 4/5 for the first and 2/5 for the second.

There is absolutely NO HOTNESS. There is bland, badly written affection. As if the author had the audacity to make their relationship private! To hell with that, I demand hot french teen porn, and due to its failure to deliver, i say FAIL.

How in the world does that make it an instant fail Sov?

Anyways, going into this fic not expecting smut.. I was still disappointed. The first part was great. The format kept me interested. I give the first part of the series a 4/5.

The second part just felt flat, switching to Third Person. I give it a 2/5.

The series as a whole gets a 3/5 from me.

It fails because, with how bad it all was, the one saving point could have been the lesbians. Instead, that was the final nail in the coffin. This story does not deserve to be in the library.

Since it seems that the first story get a much more positive rating than the second, maybe this should be split up in two different threads so "The Secret Diary of Fleur Delacour" have a chance to make it to the library, where the second story obviously doesn't.

As to the stories. Since I rarely enjoy reading fics that is written in first POV (it has to have a killer plot or something like that), I can't really be objective.

Well, I don't know if you can do that with a story that's got a sequel. I mean, it's a continuation of the same story. It's not done well, so the whole series is worse for it.

Read this a while ago and I didn't like it, I wont rate the thread since its been a while but back then I would have given it 3/5, only due to the first person POV.

The concept of the story isnt at all bad. Its the execution of it that sucks. It can be very bland at times, and if I remember it from the last time I read it, the grammar and spelling isnt the best. And as mentioned earlier, the two lesbians were handled wrong >_>

I really liked the first part, I read this quite a while ago. The romance was done well, and is actually one of if not my favorite HP/FD story out there. I give it a 4/5. Now the second part has always left me disappointed.

Just because it doesn't have tons of smut doesn't make it a bad story.

The beginning was alright, but the sequel was about as bland as they come. Not bad enough for anything below a 3/5, but definitely not worth of the library.

First part is probably Romance Section worthy. I thought it was done well. At first it seemed like it was just going to make the subtlest changes to canon to make it H/F which would have blowed, but it was actually pretty good. 4/5 for the first one. Second is confusing as hell and belongs in a garbage bin. It seemed like it was written by the author's younger sibling- or that the author turned into an emo fangirl between the first and second story. 1/5

Never really liked it. I did read the whole 1st one, but could never get into the 2nd one. The problem was for me is that it never really had that kick that made it go to the next level. Also the whole story never seemed to flow to well for me, oh and the french lesbians were just annoying not hot.
I say 2.5 but will bump to 3.0 simply for the parring.

Enjoyable story, if just due to the pairing.

A proper rewrite with a proper beta would go a long way.

Does throw out some interesting ideas to plaigari...I mean consider.

Read it a while ago. It's a decent fic. Not flawless but then again there is hardly anything flawless at all.
    4/5
P.S. Don't really have anything to add to everything said about the sequel. 2.5/5

I used to/finished read/ing this. But Im personally not in to the journal entry stories. It is a unique way to write a story, for that it deserves merit.
    3/5

The sequel was ok, but somehow seemed too slow. 2/5
