TOMD: My Thai oil came 3 weeks earlier than I was expecting, and included a little note from the Thai family who made it. Going to drop them an extremely favourable review on Amazon.

It's an analgesic and lowers swelling - methyl salicate is the active ingredient I think. You massage it into bruised muscle or bone. Very nice for when you've got bruised shins from checking kicks!

It also smells amazing, to me anyway. My first gym always smelled of the stuff, so it just reminds me of fighting whenever I catch a whiff.

Saw Deadpool 2 last night/this morning. Extremely good, a fraction more serious than the first one. To anyone going to see it, just so you know, there is no End Credits Scene. There are a couple Mid-Credit ones but noen at the very end after the scrolling text.

Also, I was surprised that there was no
    Stan Lee Cameo
but I didn't even notice that until just now. The
    X-Men Cameo
though was hillarious and it took me a second to see it. Some of the other guys were focused on the wrong part of the screen and completely missed it.

    Good News, Everyone!

Scores were posted for the exam I took yesterday, and I passed this whole "Get a 95% or get kicked out of the nursing program" thing.

I understand why they do this; they lecture it at us enough. "Even a 95% is killing 5 out of 100 patients."
I kind of hate them for it, though.

Back to 30 page care plans. Can't wait.
(I really am incredibly relieved. I've been in a constant state of terror for the past day.)

That sounds far more terrifying than my own college experience has been tbh.

Congrats on making it through Rehio!

Got a job offer - same job title, less responsibility, and slightly over a 40% raise. Half of that would get eaten by cost of living increase, but goddamn... I knew I was underpaid, but I didn't think it was quite that bad.

Still sorting out some details (and only like 90% sure I'll take it depending on said details) but either way it's really nice to have the option laid out in front of me.

    It's been a good day.

    Very nice.
Very nice. Is it dealing with the same historical period and/or geographic areas (or did I just make up a job for you in my brain and it has nothing to do with that? I seem to remember...)

Slightly later historic period than my current one (which is a large portion of that 10% uncertainly; as long as it post-dates the advent of metallurgy, earlier is always better), but the same basic geographic area.

...unless you're thinking of one of my prior iterations in Greece or northern Europe, in which case much later historic period, and different geographic area.

TOMD: Spent the last few days helping out a friend ahead of election day. We won by 1%. Feels good man. My favorite part though is that every candidate who I wanted to lose in their primary for federal office lost.

    Fuck you Bernie.

TOMD: Realised I love reading papers on iPads. Unfortunately, my current iPad is a Mini 3 and reading PDFs is a PITA. Parents have been telling me they want to buy me something for a while now, hmm... To pro, or not to pro. That is the question.

I've read ~120 books over the past year and half ish, all but ~2 or 3 on the iPad. For some reason, makes it easier to read for me. If it'll let you read more, definitely go for it –– the ROI on self-education is a huge multiple. Also, depending on where you're getting your papers from, I've seen more and more on PubMed available as .epub's - you can comment and highlight on those in iBooks.

Re: papers, I will say I think I get more out of printing + marking them up, and retain more w/hard copies. But it's a net gain with books, so I imagine the same w/papers. Curious if you find the same?
