Recently a friend of mine found this band... Van Canto... They are described as 5 singers and a drummer.
The effects are actually quite amazing and it is impressive what kind of sound one can make. You'll know what I mean when you hear it.

You might hate it, you might like it but I'm sure as hell you'll find it hillarious.

    See for yourself:

    Battery cover
    Fear of the Dark cover
    Bard's Song cover
    Wishmaster cover

I fuckin face palmed at the Battery one. This ... is a source of lulz at the misfortune of others thinking theyre doing something awesome, when clearly they are not.

Its amusing to watch them fail, however.

The Fear of the Dark cover is pretty epic :D. I think I've found a new band to obsess over for a while.

Good God; please tell me you're joking Aekiel. That cover is made entirely out of failure. No one..NO ONE...should attempt to cover an Iron Maiden song...especially without instruments.

I've got to admit that there is something addicting in those songs... the lulz or perhaps something else... just like the old times with leva's polka...

Don't be silly. There have been plenty of good covers of Maiden songs, though this one is lacking compared to the Sonata Arctica cover of Die With Your Boots On it is still pretty awesome. Then again that may just be the novelty value speaking for me.

LOL, it's novel, I'll concede that much. I guess I'm too much of a Maiden fanboy to stomach a cappella covers. They sound like a bunch of Norwegian beatbox rappers to me. Listen to their cover of 'The Trooper'--it will make your ears bleed.

That cover you linked is alright, but I'd still rather listen to the original.

EDIT: Just watched the 'Wishmaster' one above, and I can't stop laughing. That guy looking all intense as he keeps repeating 'riddly-diddly-riddly-diddly.' Hilarious.

    Fucking hilarious.

All those posers who never wanted to put in the effort to learn an instrument but wanted to jump around like a rock star have finally found their niche.

Now if only we can get that kind of dedication for a genre other than metal...

This is why these kinds of bands shouldn't take these things seriously, take the House Jacks for example, they aren't serious when they cover other songs. Plus, I've only ever heard them cover songs during concert, not on their albums.

They also don't need a drum kit to make those sounds.

I think that the main issue here is that the vocals sound absolutely nothing like a guitar and bass would, especially with the standard distortion. Saying nillly-nilly-nilly over and over again and throwing in the occasional dun-dun does not realistic sound effects make.

And other than that, what's the point? It clearly won't sound better, and once you get past the concept you might as well just listen to the original version.
