Right, I figured that I would ask this question here as there are many people on this forum far more intelligent than I.
I want to set up a VPN between my laptop and my desktop. The first issue that I can think of is that my laptop is a Macbook and my desktop is a PC. Does this cause incompatibility issues?
If not, how do I use my desktop as a VPN server that I can access via my laptop to surf the web etc.?

Any info would be more than helpful.
    Thank you.

Iunno about doing it through the OS, but you could use Hamachi.

I second Hamachi. It does what you're wanting to do.

Thirded. I have used Hamachi for similar purposes and found it to be great. It has a simple and easy to use interface and you can easily set everything up.

While I haven't used Hamachi in about 2 years (I'm using Tunngle nowadays for gaming), I always found TeamViewer to be slightly more accessible/presentable and less prone to problems for straight Remote Desktop purposes. The Remote File Browser is actually quite good, especially if you set your Computer to Wake-on-LAN.

If Hamachi doesn't work for your purposes, give OpenVPN a shot. I liked OpenVPN because it runs on my router.
