But could you carve multiple ones? Multiple identical ones? It's a prop and props need backups.

Also for the techsavy among us would it be easier to place the CGI effects on a standard hnockey stick or hand-carved wooden staff?

I'm pretty sure they have machines that make multiple stave's. And surely it would take almost the same amount of work if not less.

The same amount of time as walking into a sports store and grabbing a stack of hockey sticks?

Fair point, though like Knox said, there are machines that can accurately map the carvings on a staff and then cut an almost exact duplicate in a semi-automated process. That means all you need are a bunch of sticks that are basically the same size and you can then make just as many as you need. So if your Wizard is a bit clumsy and breaks a few of your props, all you need are some long bits of wood and you've got as many spares as you need.

Aside from the fact that I dislike the hockey stick on the principle that it's not a very good melee weapon, which Dresden comments on several times in the books, I will probably never like that particular part of it. On the other hand, designing and making those staves would be quite expensive, and they were on a limited budget :p.

Wouldn't take all that much, My dad has a smaller version of the machine, I have no idea what it is called, And uses it all the time. It was pretty cheap, Like a three hundred Dollars. And does stuff about 1 1/2 feet in length and a couple inches in girth.

allUC.org is pretty good. Though it annoys the piss out of me because it doesn't have any Supernatural episodes on it.

Thanks for the Aus link. I couldn't get the Dresden links I found on allUC to work.

    Peace.

I hear that the Dresden TV series sucks. Is that true? My friend said Murphy is a total girly girl and Dresdens character is less like Dresden and more like Dexter. I don't like Murphy anyway so I don't care if they murder her character, but Dresden is no Dexter.

Nah. He's more like an Average Joe. He doesn't use much magic in the show unlike his book counterpart.

I liked the show. It's more then I expected it to be. The actor that plays Harry is good looking. Murphy is totally different from the Murphy in the book. That disappoints me.
