There are a few Batman cartoons out there, but I don't know which one is most worth watching. Somehow I went through my entire childhood without ever seeing a single one. Which is the best Batman cartoon to track down and watch?

The choices in no particular order:

The New Adventures of Batman (1977)
Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2008 – present)
    The Batman (2004 – 2008)
    Batman: The Animated Series (1992 – 1995)
    Batman Beyond (1999 – 2001)

If I'm missing one in the list that you think is worthwhile, let me know.

Without a doubt, Batman: The Animated Series. So much win.

The Animated Series by far the best.

Batman Beyond was decent. The Batman was ok, I guess. The new one looks like crap.

Watch Batman: TAS, then watch Batman Beyond as it is in the future of the same universe.

I have fond memories of the Animated series. For some reason I could never stand Batman Beyond. I think it was probably to do with the art style.

    From best to wrost...

    - Batman: TAS

    - Batman Beyond

    - The Batman (I kind of liked this show, actually. It wasn't a real contender for TAS, but it was entertaining enough)

    - Batman: The Brave and the Bold (Watched it a few times -- kind of fun, more of a throwback to the Silver Age than anything. And it isn't totally Batman-centric, lots of other second or third tier characters make up the cast)

    - The New Adventures of Batman (1977) (At least Brave and the Bold manages to take itself seriously from time to time, which this show never even attempted...)

    - Batman and Robin (Because it's just that bad.)

All fifteen votes for the Animated Series.

This does not surprise me at all. That show was beyond awesome.

Batman the Animated Series then Batman Beyond.

On the topic of Batman and animation, the best animated batman film is Mask of the Phantasm .... Actually it might be one of my most favourite batman films ever!

Batman: TAS is indeed awesome. But I liked Batman Beyond more, because that one, instead of simply being bound by all Batman's 60+ years of history, took a different look at the idea behind the Cape and Cowl. Well, at least, the Cowl, since the Cape is gone.

I've seen a few episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Only one was worth watching.

EDIT: Return of the Joker > Mask of the Phantasm.

If you preferred BB then you would prefer Return of the Joker since its basically the same, but if you like the TAS then MoTP is logical choice.

Revan's lineup syncs with mine, although Beyond scores a little higher because I love sci-fi and the Blade Runner elements did it for me.

It scores a little lower for me because of the Batgirl storyline. She left Nightwing due to a crush on Batman...then hooked up with an old black dude who worships Nightwing even though he hasn't fought crime since who knows when. I wish Nightwing would have made an appearance on the show to kick some ass at some point. I don't care if he is an old man. The expression on everyone's face would be priceless.

I can't find a cartoon titled Batman and Robin. The closest I can find is The Adventures of Batman & Robin, which is really just season 2 of Batman: The Animated Series.

And it looks like I missed The New Batman Adventures in the OP. It's set two years after TAS.

edit: Actually I won't bother adding it. It looks like it's mostly treated as just an extra part of TAS. It's Vol 4 in the Batman: The Animated Series DVD boxset.

Batman: TAS and Beyond are about equal imo. You should also watch Justice League and Justice League: Unlimited as they have more than a few awesome Batman moments (plus awesome moments overall)

    Super Friends because it's hilarious.

I remember switching from watching Batman to Scooby Do exclusively when Batman Beyond came out. Fuck that show very much. Never watched Batman again.

I wasn't born in '77, so I don't have any idea about that show...

Choice was clear: Awesome show was awesome. R.I.P.

The Animated Series. It's not a question. It's generally recognised as one of the cartoons that changed animation for the better - at least until the fucking anime revolution 10 years ago.

Also, it starred the best Batman and the best Joker. Mark Hamill ftw.

The Animated Series was obviously the best cartoon. However, the uncut version of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker was the best movie and just so full of awesome.

It was hard for me to choose but The Animated Series won. I adored Batman Beyond and I love the Brave and the Bold but the Animated Series was what I grew up on, had the best Joker, Harley, and Poison Ivy, and some of the best animation of the 90's.
