Well, I didn't get a key, but I had one of those beta keys from BlizzCon 2008 somewhere... Probably got rid of it already though. Is SC2 any good?

Anyways, holy fck just spent an hour watching the stream, looks pimpin on the new engine and with all the new units (ZERG ZERG ZERG ).

EDIT: YES, you can now download the beta and view replays through a patch. (singleplayer patch incoming), i doubt a multiplayer one will come anytime soon though.

My friend went to Blizzcon this year (I was invited, but college started the day after Blizzcon ended). Yesterday morning I woke up and found that he'd sent me a picture of his "You've been accepted into the Starcraft II Beta" screen.

God, I hate him.



Oh, and supposedly they gave out keys to the people who went to Blizzcon first. After this batch is through they'll start sending them out to those who opted in. Just something I heard on one of the SCII Beta streams.

 

Nah, they sent the keys to some of the opt-ins before the Blizzcon/contest key owners, actually.

 

From what I understand, the majority of people who got keys never played SC1. I think a lot of WOW fans got keys too. What a waste...

So far I've been hearing mixed reviews, anyone know the state of balance in the game? Is it as bad as WC3 was (ala Night Elves can own everything with Cyclone and slow poison kiting)?

I did play SC1 a little but mainly just the custom games.

 

Three accounts opted in and no key. I am the sad.

 

Apparently the zerg have the upper hand in the game so far, the zerg queen is ridiculous when compared to similar units/upgrades.

No key here. : \

 

It's hard to comment on balance because it hasn't been played to death yet.

By the way, there's a way for us unfortunate keyless SOBs to watch replays. It's not anywhere near as good as playing the game, but...it's an improvement. D:

 

So so so sad, been watching to many replays with the SC2 client, makes me wanna play soooo bad.
