Carlos Ramirez or Elaine. Both of these characters could make any book better, with their unique magic styles.

Actually, in Harry's Day Off she is topless while Harry rescues her from his smoking basement, though he doesn't describe them in great detail.

... Another reason I can't wait for Side Jobs.

    Definitely Elaine, no explanation req'd.

Ramirez, only because making fun of virgins is fun.

Kincaid and Ivy. Greatest "family" ever.

Eldest Gruff for he is awesome.

Ramirez, he's a good comic relief.

    And to quote LittleChicago:
The greatest "family" ever known: Kincaid and Ivy. Now that we know what both of them are capable of...

And to sate my curiosity I'd like to see more of Tera West. That or to know what happened to her. Butcher did mention that she'll make an appearance somewhere in the future.

    Eldest Gruff, definitly.

Toot because I think he's great.

    Kincaid and Ivy. No brainer.

And I'm going to say Gard. Her concept is interesting, and I've always wanted to see a bit of the dynamics between the Valkyrie and the Mobster.

I don't like Elaine any more than I liked Susan, perhaps even less, and have no desire to see her ever again. You say no explanation required, but I really don't get why people like her.

Lara is great as a support cast sometimes, but I don't want to see more of her. Great character as is though.

Molly is fine so long as she is not going to have a relationship outside of Master/Apprentice with Harry.

I think I'm in a relative minority on those things because everyone else seems to like those characters but not Murphy as much. As for me, I'll admit that Murphy irritated me in the early books, but starting around Summer Knight she has rapidly become one of my all-time favorite fictional female characters.

That said we usually get to see plenty of her as it is, so I'm hoping we continue in that trend.

I'd like to see more Kincaid/Ivy (not shipping, just together), Marcone/Gard (again, not a ship), Toot, Mouse, Demonreach, and Ebenezer. Maybe the Alphas, but that depends on how they've grown/matured. Maybe Gatekeeper.

Ramirez is like Lara -- great support cast sometimes, but I don't really want him around more either. Same for Butters.

Elaine and Susan both irritated the fuck out of me, and Murphy has yet to grow on me significantly - not entirely sure why, though.

As characters go, I'd love to see more of Marcone, Kincaid and Ivy, The Eldest Gruff, definitely the Gatekeeper, and (obviously) more Nicodemus, particularly if there is any way for Lasciel to get back in the picture.

Mab-We still need to find out exactly what happened to her
    Eldest Gruff
    Titania
Cowl- I'm not so convinced he was Peabody.
    Injun Joe.
Sanya- Moar Sanya. That is all.
Outsiders . Any Outsiders. We've pretty much see nothing of substance from them, yet.
    Ferrovax

Characters who need to be downgraded:
Molly- hell, she seems to be heading towards "warlock" anyway and God knows what will happen to her with Harry dead.

Lara- The dynamic between her and Harry has changed,it's no longer "Oh-I-can-look-and-tease-but-I-can't-touch, it's I-will-suck-your-soul-out-when-I-get-the-munchies.

Not to mention that there seems to be no real defense against the WC, once the mojo hits you it's over.

And this is all besides the fact that since Blood Rites the White Court fucking scare me. That's right, I'm afraid of mega-hot sex-vampires,what of it?

The werewolves- they're just fucking outclassed now man. I don't want to see wolves sent to the slaughterhouse.

    This. Especially Ramirez.
    And this.
    Also this.
    This too.
    Definitely this.

Not a character but I wanna see Harry use his gun more, he doesn't use it as much as he did in the earlier books and gunslinger Dresden is always fun. It always set him apart from the rest of the White Coucil too, showed him as more of a contemporary, mortal savvy wizard.

    Wat?

I wasn't under the impression that anyone thought Cowl was Peabody.

I'm inclined to say "that's really stupid" but it's possible I missed whatever evidence people are using for this. Anyone care to enlighten me?

And just because Harry suspects Cowl of being on the WC doesn't mean Cowl = Peabody, so I hope there is more to go on than that.

You're right though, the connection was made because we knew of no one else in the Black Council. Just because they work for the same people doesn't mean they are the same. Which was exactly my point.

I am seeing things pretty similar to CheddarTrek, didn't like Elaine very much and while Murphy was meh/irritating in the first three books, after that she too became one of my favorites.

Never had this Susan hate either, actually kind of liked her. Same with Molly who is a pretty interesting character.

But I wish to see more of Sanya, Kincaid/Ivy and the Alphas. I know, Scribblerus is right when he says that they are seriously outclassed now, but damnit they grew on me and I wouldn't be surprised if they picked up some other stuff to make them on par with the rest of the cast.

Ferrovax, Ivy, Nicodemus, the Gatekeeper, Cowl. Basically, powerful free agents are fun. Vampires and random demons/monsters from the Nevernever I find less interesting.

    Also, Molly sans clothes.

I like Elaine because she's essentially a female Harry - wizard, sneaky, snarky. Her presence also brings with it the possibility of exploring Harry's past, which I'm completely in favour of.

I agree with you 100% on Murphy - I like her. I never got the hate. Someone explained it to me that people were frustrated that she wouldn't take up the damn Sword and was dating Kincaid - two things that don't define the character at all. But we do see her in every book, so a bump in appearances doesn't really work.

Elaine, on the other hand, we've met twice. First time, she was mysterious and a little frustrating, second time, she was Harry's other half.

Elaine seems weak-willed in Summer Knight and interested in "going along with what's convenient" instead of trying to "do what's right."

That's my real issue with her. She does what's best/convenient for her and screw the rest of the world. Harry tends to be the exact opposite.

Now granted, there's nothing wrong with a character who looks out for number one first. I just don't like her. She also doesn't seem to want to trust Harry despite knowing that she should be able to.

Maybe some of that is unfair to her character, but it's the impression I have. I don't think of her as snarky or sneaky, just as the irritating kind of smartass and weak-willed.

I know that a lot of that can be explained by what DuMorne did to her. That had to have really messed with her mind and psyche in ways that aren't easy to ignore or recover from. But so far the books haven't done much more than hint at that and have Elaine say things that could have been aimed at manipulating Harry anyway (*pout pout* I don't want anyone to control me).

We're going to see more of Elaine though guys, don't worry. She was probably picked by DuMorne for the same reasons Harry was, which likely has to do the whole OutsiderBane thing we haven't got much information on yet, so she'll turn up.
